New Teams Clear Cache


If you are facing any problems that are affecting your use of the new Microsoft Teams desktop application, then clearing the cache on your device might help. Once you have cleared the cache, you should restart Teams.  
 
Please note: When you reset the Teams app, the app data will be deleted. This includes any personalisation settings that you might have configured. 

New Teams Clear Cache (Windows 10)

New Teams Clear Cache (WVD)

New Teams Clear Cache (Windows 10)  

Sign out of Teams 

Right-click the Teams symbol -> Quit Teams 

Click Windows symbol (Start) -> Cog (Settings) -> Apps 

Search "Teams" and click on "Microsoft Teams (work or school)" 

Click "Advanced options"   


Navigate to "Reset" header 

Click "Reset" twice  

Wait for a Tick next to the Reset button, then close the settings box  


Re-open Teams making sure you click on Microsoft Teams (work or school)

New Teams Clear Cache (Windows 11)

Sign out of Teams 

Right-click the Teams symbol -> Quit Teams 

Click Windows symbol (Start) -> Cog (Settings) -> Apps -> Installed Apps 

Search "Teams" and click on "Microsoft Teams (work or school)" 

Click "Advanced options"


Navigate to "Reset" header 

Click "Reset" twice  

Wait for a Tick next to the Reset button, then close the settings box


Re-open Teams making sure you click on Microsoft Teams (work or school)

New Teams Clear Cache (Mac) 

These instructions relate to university-owned Macs which are managed by the Jamf system. 

If your device is not yet managed by Jamf, please contact the IT Service Desk as soon as possible to have your machine enrolled. 

Your device must be running macOS 12 (Monterey), macOS 13 (Ventura) or macOS 14 (Sonoma). If your device does not meet this requirement, contact the IT Service Desk to arrange an upgrade. 

Ensure that you are not attempting to use new Teams before Monday 4th March 2024.

Open the Self-Service app and run the “Microsoft Teams (work or school) – clear cache” function. 


If your device isn't managed by the Jamf system, please view the below:

If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon in the dock, and then select Quit or press Command (⌘)-Q.

In the Finder, open the /Applications/Utilities folder, and then double-click Terminal.

Enter the following commands, and press Return after each command:

rm -rf ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.teams
rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.teams2

Re-open Teams making sure you click on Microsoft Teams (work or school)

New Teams Clear Cache (WVD)

From the 4th of April, new Teams will be the default desktop application. If you are experiencing new Teams-related issues on the WVD, please follow the manual instructions for clearing your Teams cache.
