This article describes how to open a VTT file within notepad.
What Operating systems does this apply to?
The following instructions are for use on the Windows 10 Operating system. If you are using an Apple Mac or another operating system that isn't Windows 10, please use Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD). For more information on accessing and using WVD, please see the following knowledge article.
I have downloaded the VTT file, how do I open it in notepad?
For demonstration purposes, the following guide has been created using WVD. Please note, where you see wvdgprd006-203 in the following screenshots, you may see This PC.
- Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to the Downloads folder.
- Locate the required VTT file within your Downloads folder.
- Right click the file and choose Open with
- Click More apps
- Click Notepad from the list of apps, making sure Always use this app to open .vtt files is ticked, then click OK.
- The transcript will open in notepad. Any VTT file that you download in the future will open in Notepad.
