How to connect to Windows Cluster machines using MacOS


To connect to a cluster machine you will need to have Microsoft Remote Default installed. If you already have it installed you can skip this first step.

To install Microsoft Remote Default Gateway On the Mac you are connecting from, launch the App Store, and use the search bar in the top right to search for "Microsoft Remote Desktop". When the Microsoft Remote Desktop app appears, click on install:

Next From the table of available dashboards, click the link relating to the cluster you need to access.

When prompted click Download:

The downloaded file should appear in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. Click on your Downloads folder and select the Connection File you downloaded:

When prompted enter your university Username and Password. Then click Continue:


If you get an error that says your root certificate couldn't be verified click on Show Certificate:



Select Always Trust and then click Continue:

Enter your the Username and Password for your Mac, then click Update Settings:

If you get an error saying Unable to connect contact the Service Desk.
