Transcribe an audio recording to text using Microsoft Word online


What is it?

A speech to text transcription feature in Microsoft Word online, one of the office productivity applications included in the Microsoft Office suite.

What do I use it for?

You can use the Transcribe feature on audio from within the Microsoft Word online application, either recording audio directly into Word for speech to text output, or by uploading an audio recording from a previous session. The feature will provide text as output, with content separated by speaker. Text sentences are separated by timestamps for the audio, allowing you to proof-read the audio recognition.

Who is it available to?

Microsoft Word online is available to all University staff and students.

How do I access it?

You can access Microsoft Word online by logging into the Office 365 portal, clicking on all apps and selecting Word from there.
