What is Microsoft Visio?


What is it?

Microsoft Visio is a diagramming tool by Microsoft. It is one of the office productivity applications included in the Microsoft Office suite.

It is available for Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, Android, Apple IOS and on Linux using WINE.

What do I use it for?

Microsoft Visio allows you to produce flowcharts, diagrams, organisational charts, floor plans and engineering designs. It provides modern shapes and templates.

You can also work with others to collaborate on Visio drawings at the same time.

How can I access it?

For both the free Visio web application and the paid for (subscription based) Visio application, you can access the web app for Visio at https://office365.leeds.ac.uk.

For users with a paid licence for Visio (both Visio Plan 2 and Visio Professional 2019), you can also access Visio using the desktop application. If you have a perpetual licence, this should be available to you to download via the Software Center. For users with a subscription licence, you can request to have the desktop app installed via IT (please see related requests).

Training

Microsoft Visio training is available via LinkedIn Learning and is free for all staff and students.
