What is it?

Microsoft Project is a project management tool by Microsoft. It is designed to assist a project manager in developing a schedule, assigning resources to tasks, tracking progress, managing the budget, and analysing workloads.

It is available for Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, Android, Apple IOS and on Linux using WINE.

What do I use it for?

Microsoft Project allows you to set up project plans, assign and track tasks and monitor both large and small pieces of work. Plans can be shared for collaborative work and documents stored within projects.

Who is it available to?

Microsoft Project is not part of our Office365 subscription. Please use the related request - Purchase Microsoft Software request (available when logged in for staff and research Postgraduates).

Which plan do I need?

Subscription (Microsoft Project Plan 5)
Perpetual (Microsoft Project Standard/Professional 2019)

How do I access it?

Once you have purchased the app through IT services, you can access Project for the web by logging into the Office 365 portal, clicking on all apps and then clicking the Project tile. If you are working on Project Online, you will need permission to access the Project site.

Training

Microsoft Project training is available via LinkedIn Learning and is free for all staff and students.
