IT can provide hardware outside of that listed in this article, where there is a legitimate business requirement. It is anticipated that only very specialist high-specification workstations would fall into this category. Please make these types of requests via the Purchase of Non-Standard Computer form, including information regarding your functional requirements rather than requesting a specific device model so that we can identify an appropriate option. We will recommend a suitable device based on the specification required and within the boundaries of our supplier agreements.
The University has contracted suppliers for the supply of desktop PCs, laptops and Windows tablets. There are also preferred suppliers for Apple devices. Any purchases outside of these contracts open the University to challenge from our contracted suppliers, therefore requests for devices from other suppliers will also require a supporting business case.
