Audacity is an easy-to-use, multi-track audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux and other operating systems. Developed by a group of volunteers as open source.
Audacity is available on the Cluster Desktop, the Virtual Windows Desktop (through AppsAnywhere) and for installation on networked computers via the Software Center - see the 'How to install software to your work PC via the Software Center' article. Installation on non-networked computers is available via the Install Software link.
University staff and students can obtain the software for home installation for free from Audacity.
