What is it?

JAWS is a computer screen reader program for Microsoft Windows that allows blind and visually impaired users to read the screen either with a text-to-speech output or by a Refreshable Braille display.

JAWS and other screen readers make use of keystrokes to perform operations that sighted users perform via a mouse. The results of performing these actions are then spoken to the user by the software. Some of the keystrokes can be used to perform common actions in the Windows operating system applications and others are specific to individual applications. The following list of general JAWS Keystrokes allows basic accessible control of a PC and applications.
