IT Service Desk - opening hours and how to contact us


The IT Service Desk provides a friendly, helpful and customer-focused point of contact for IT queries, and this article will give you all the information about where to find us and when we are open.

IT Help and Support over the May Bank Holiday

The University, and the IT Service Desk, will be closed on Monday 5 May.

What to do if you need help

You can log requests with the IT Service Desk, which will be looked at when the University reopens on Tuesday 6 May. You will need to be logged in to the IT website to submit requests.You can find  information, tips and information on this website , and you can also use the chatbot, Falco. In addition, a basic out-of-hours phone service (0113 343 3333) will be available 24/7.Staff and student guides for our digital education systems are available at the Digital Education Systems Help website.

Term time opening hours

The IT Service Desk is open Monday - Friday:  

  • Face-to-face support is available from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm but booked appointments take priority. Book an appointment before visiting to avoid wait times.
  • Telephone support is available between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Please note that our busiest period tends to be during lunch (12:00 pm - 2:00 pm)

Note: The IT Service Desk does not open on weekends and University closed days e.g. Bank holidays, Easter and the Christmas closure period. 

Out of hours 

When the Service Desk is closed, phone calls are diverted to an out of hours service offering basic support and guidance. 

Term time:

  • Mon-Fri: 5:00pm to 8:00am.
  • Weekends: 24 hours.

Finding the IT Service Desk

How to find the IT Service Desk (Please remember to book an appointment)

The IT Service Desk is right in the middle of campus, on the 10th floor of the E C Stoner building (Room 10.01). 

Directions from Roger Stevens Lecture Theatre Building :

Go to Level 10 of Roger Stevens and follow the Red Route. Turn right when you get to the Dolche Vita Cafe. The bridge corridor will take you to the E C Stoner Building, and you will see the IT Service Desk on the right.

Directions from the front of the Union :

From the front steps of the Union turn right. Go through the green gates. When you reach the courtyard with the "Sign for Art" statue (also known as the Wobbly Bacon statue) turn right. Take the covered walkway and go through the red doors.

You are now on the Red Route. Follow the corridor and when you reach the T junction turn left. The bridge corridor will take you to the E C Stoner Building, and you will see the IT Service Desk on the right.

Self Service and Logging a ticket

Get self-help and find tips and information here on the IT website. You can also chat with Falco, IT's 24/7 chatbot.  You will need to be logged in to get the most from the IT website.

Wherever possible, please provide as much detail surrounding your Request or Incident as you can (answering all questions as fully as possible). If you are reporting an error, on a system please provide the exact error message.
