Account Locking Out

Your account only locks due to three or more incorrect password attempts.

If you have changed your password, you need to make sure that all saved credentials are updated and using the new password. This includes Microsoft Outlook, saved passwords on University websites (such as Minerva and the Library), and the UniLeeds app.

Most importantly, you will need to update your Wi-Fi settings with the new password.

Forgetting the Wi-Fi

The most common cause of account lockouts is eduroam. This is because eduroam remembers the password, so you don't have to log in every time, when you change your password, it can keep trying with the old password and lock your account. If you have changed your password, you will need to forget Eduroam on all your devices, and then reconnect with the new password.

Windows

This guide illustrates the steps in Windows 10, but the process is similar for other versions.

Click on your Wi-Fi icon (in the bottom right of the screen) and click Network and Internet settings

Win101

Click Manage known networks

Win102

Find 'eduroam' in the list of networks. Then click Forget.

Win103

You will then need to reconnect again using your new password. Instructions can be found here.

iOS (iPhone and iPad)

Open Settings and then choose Wi-Fi. Click on the blue information icon (i) next to eduroam.

Iphone 1

Then choose Forget This Network.

Iphone 2

If you don't have this option, you will need to remove your Wi-Fi profile.  To do this, choose Settings > General.

Scroll to the bottom and open Profiles. Select 'eduroam' or the 'University of Leeds' and tap Delete Profile. If you have a passcode for your device, you will be prompted to enter it. Then tap Remove.

You will then need to reconnect again using your new password. Instructions can be found here.

Mac OS X

Click on System Preferences, then select Network. Click Advanced and then remove Eduroam from the list by clicking the minus button.

Mac 1

You may also need to remove the network profile. To do this, open System Preferences and select Profiles. If you cannot see this, you do not have any network profiles installed.

Select the eduroam or University of Leeds profile and remove it using the minus (-) button. You may also need to enter your Mac password (not your University one).

You will then need to reconnect again using your new password. Instructions can be found here.

Android

These options may be slightly different depending on what version of Android you have.

Open Settings and then choose Wi-Fi. Press and hold on eduroam to bring up another menu. Then choose Forget network.

You will then need to reconnect again using your new password. Instructions can be found here.
